Fall is a transitional season between the polar opposites of summer and winter. This change from hot to cold environments is important for planetary changes to take place, but it is sometimes difficult for our bodies to adjust to the stirring winds and the dampening cold. Fall winds bombard the body and invade through the pores like an open window or door. This chill makes the body susceptible to opportunistic pathogens lurking in the air and on the surfaces that we touch. The winds also make things very dry, bothering the nose and the lungs, and setting us up for cold and flu attacks. Fall is a variable season, and it is hard to know what the next day will bring. Dramatic shifts make the body work harder as our internal environments adapt to these changes. Wear a scarf and a hat, as the wind easily enter the body around the head, neck and shoulders. This will enforce the external barrier of the skin and stop your body heat from exiting to quickly. Pay attention to those who are coughing and sneezing, and steer clear. Make sure to move your body, as the lymph system needs motion to work and keep you healthy. Adapt your diet with seasonal foods, and warming soups and teas. Appropriate action will insure a healthier happier transition into winter.
