Why Should I Use Chinese Herbal Medicine?
|
Trained master herbalists harness empirical knowledge from the ancients, logging hundreds of hours of in depth study, learning how to facilitate health by supporting the body in a natural non-toxic way. |
A TCM practitioner is familiar with most of the 1,800 herbs in the Chinese pharmacopeia, and will be able to combine these herbs in combinations which enhance their actions, and the effects it has on our bodies. Herbal formulas are strongest when taken as a tea, bypassing most of the digestion, and going almost directly into the blood stream. Formulas can also be taken as an extract, in pill form, or as a powder. Herbs designated as medicinal often have high concentration of bio-available nutrients, which help multiple metabolic processes. Containing hundreds of constituents, the complexity of these substances is easily recognized and used by the body due to similar evolutionary roots. This is not to say all plants are medicine, or that every plant can be consumed safely. Plants have evolved in their own environments and contain substances specific to their own survival. This can make many of them toxic and inedible. |
